Cast iron owl form andirons, several foundries made similar castings of this popular motif in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. They can be differentiated by foundry marks and minor casting differences. This example marked on the back 407E was made by the Rostand Manufacturing Co. of Milford, Conn. and are displayed in their 1921 edition trade catalog on pg. 62.
