Set of stands- papier mache, painted, lacquered, gilded and inlaid with mother-of-pearl, a complete set of four tables of this type is rare, English, circa 1840, original condition, three of the tables are virtually perfect, the outermost shows wear and minor inlay loss. The largest table top is an oriental landscape with figures, the second is a chess board, the third is a bird in a floral wreath, and the fourth is of oriental artists in a garden, all on original brass casters. They were premier makers of papier mache goods in England which were also exported to India and the United States.
