Circa 1798-1818, an exceptional watercolor by J. W. Williams of Scarboroughs South Bay. In the background on the tall cliffs are the remaining ruins of ancient Scarborough Castle. A lighthouse unrecorded prior to 1806 is in the foreground. This well drawn watercolor is in excellent condition, any perceived imperfections are from camera reflections on the glass. Sight size: 6.5 x 10.5 (Framed: 14 x 20). Two of Williams watercolors were accepted for the Royal Academy Exhibition of 1808.
19th C watercolor The Fishing Fleet Reclaimed by William Ayerst Ingram (1851-1913). An esteemed painter of marine subjects, Ingram exhibited 80 works at the Royal Academy from 1880 on. He is represented in my public collections, including the Victoria and Albert Museum. Some age related flocking, but otherwise in very good condition. Please note other variations are caused by reflections from the glass. Sight size: 9.5 x 13.5 (Framed: 16.5 x 19.75)
