Gaudez was born in Lyons and died in Neuilly. He studied with FranĂ§cois Jouffroy at the Academy of Beaux Arts in Paris in 1862 and debuted at the Paris Salon in 1864. Gaudez specialized in monuments and large groups of statuary as well as single figures, portrait reliefs and busts.
