A New England Drop Leaf Table, circa 1810-1820 of solid cherry with Chestnut secondary wood and a brass drawer pull on a single drawer. Its origin is most likely Connecticut or Massachusetts. The finish not original, but older and with a warm mellow tone. The structure is sound with no splits or breaks. There is one very small loss at one corner. Still Life with Fruit and Flowers

Oil-on-canvas, signed lower left on the tabletop edge

Painting: 15 ¾” x 19”
Frame: 20 ¼” x 23 ¾”

Born in and active in Berlin, Schultz is noted for his realistically executed sill lifes of fruit and flowers. He was a student of Völker in Berlin, but soon eclipsed his master in talent.
