| Two outstanding pieces combined -- a stunning metal Rococo frame (c 1900-1920), and a magnificent tiny painting, from land, looking across a lake, with a bit of yellowing sunrise at the center, behind the trees and mountains; by "De Szaak" (possibly Count Edmon De Szaak, Hungarian, 19th C.), signed lower left; note the K's right leg is crossed as if ending in "X." We leave it to the buyer to research the spelling. The oil painting is on canvas, held between two pieces of glass, allowing the back to be viewed. The miniature has been cut from its stretcher at some past time, and retains bits of paper (removable if desired) where it was apparently glued to a backing. The painting measures apx. 6" x 4.5" (15.24 x 11.43 cm); the frame 10" x 5.5" (25.40 x 13.97 cm). Some oxidation and desirable darkened patina to the frame; craquelure to the painting which has recently received a preservative glaze. c. 1900-1920.
