A fine French Empire near life size carved mahogany
bust of A female maiden mounted upon an ormolu or gilt bronze mounted
mahogany plinth. French, circa: 1810. Measuring:
16" high . Lost wax method of bronze casting. Hand chasing and chiseling of the surface. The ormolu is Mercury gilded with both Matt finish and highly burnished areas of highlight. Gilding is original and in tact. |
