French Directoire Bronze Athenienne And Blue John Tazza

A Fine French Directoire patinated bronze and Hardstone Blue John Tazza in the form of an Athenienne. Although very Empire and Neoclassical this item is from the Directiore period from the 18th century the period just before the First French Empire period began. French Circa: 1795-1800. Measuring: 5" high. Weight: 5 pounds.

The fine patinated bronze Athenienne supports an acanthus leaf and berry rim bronze circular rim. The bronze circular bowl is supported by three classical legs ending in lion paw feet, mounted upon a triangular stepped plinth base. The bronze tazza supports and English Derbyshire * Blue John Bowl.

Lost wax method of bronze casting. Hand chasing and chiseling of the surface. Original patina present and intact.
