| Exceptional Pair of Georgian Heavy Cut Liquer Decanters with step cut neck. The bowl is surrounded by top and bottom bands of plain Diamond and Hobnail Dialmond cutting with a center band of plain Diamonds matching original and replacements stoppers, Circa 1820. H: 9" Diameter 3.5" resting on a later footed tray, silver plate H:1" W:11 3/4" D:9 1/4" with 3 liquer glasses, H:4". The pair of Cut glass Decanters are glass whose surface has been cut ito facets, grooves and depressions aided by a large, rotating wheel. Wheel cutting glass decoration was developed in the 8th C. BC, but the technique of faceting wasn't perfected util the 18th Century in England. Although cutting glass is a costly and difficult process, the brilliant effects are extraordinary.
