Joseph Míchel-Ange Pollet (French, 1814-1870) Une Heure de la Nuit Bronze with good mid-brown patina. Height: 14” Pollet was known for creating figures and groups with a religious, historical, classical or allegorical bent. His themes included The Night, The Dawn, Star of Evening and Bacchante. While in Rome he was a student of Villareale, Thorvaldsen and Tenerani. Eventually, he also worked in Paris and Brussels. From 1846 to 1856 he exhibited at the Paris Salon, and medalled in 1847, 1848, 1851 and 1855. In 1856 he won the the Légion d’Honneur. Pollet died in Paris on December 31, 1870. Source: James Mackay.
